Montreat Conference Centers

The Annual Recreation Workshop (ARW) is an experiential 5-day event focused on recreation, worship, community, creativity, and the arts. Leaders from all aspects of the church's ministry are invited to come and take hands on workshops to help bolster your ministry. Scripture invites us to participate in the MARVELOUS MYSTERY of our God, our lives, our world, our churches, and the ministry we engage in. Come for a week filled with exploration of this theme, professional development, and a wonderful community.

ARW is designed for educators, youth workers, church volunteers, pastors and anyone interested in developing more creative leadership skills in ministry settings. ARW is connected to the Presbyterian Church and welcomes all denominations to participate in the workshops. Each participant can select from courses in recreation leadership, worship design, ministries with all ages of people, and creative arts and spirituality. Each course, along with the whole group worship and recreation events, will give those who come a myriad of resources to us in local ministry settings. ARW is also a wonderful opportunity for personal spiritual renewal and re-creation.

Worship and Music Leadership

Mark Montgomery Photo Worship Leader: Mark Montgomery is a pastor, living the good life in the rocking state of Connecticut. Hailing from SC, his favorite season used to be the fall. Having lived in the snowy Northeast for 10 years now, his new favorite season is summer! In every season, he likes to paint, pontificate and play.

Music Leader: Beth Watson serves Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin TX, as the Contemporary Worship Director. She has a long history of denominational leadership in music, recreation, and worship, and is super excited to be back at ARW after a few years away. Beth spent a number of years in Camp and Conference Ministry and Campus Ministry. She is a fan of Mexican vanilla, Texas beaches, homegrown tomatoes and campfire singing. Beth Watson Photo
